MARISA - OWNER/OPERATOR(with Chiggers, a harbor seal pup, that was rehabilitated and eventually released back into the wild)
My entire professional and personal life has involved the care of animals. Growing up I was active in horse, dog and goat 4-H and volunteered with the local animal shelter. I studied Zoology in college and have been a licensed Veterinary Technician for 20 years. I've worked as a Stablehand at Messiah Arabian Stud in Yelm, as a volunteer Zookeeper at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in the World of Adaptations and Rocky Shores areas, and interned with the Dept. of Wildlife Marine Mammal Investigations in Tacoma. I've been a 4-H Dog Club trainer for the past 8 years and have owned horses, alpacas, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, fish, ducks and chickens on our farm in Maple Valley. Combined these experiences have provided me with a broad base of animal care know-how. I started Equine Sitters so I could enjoy caring for not only horses, but a wide variety of animals and provide peace of mind to their owners while they're at work or away on vacation.
ASHLEY - PET SITTER (with Snickers, 4-H dog extraordinaire!)
Ashley has many years of experience taking care of dogs, cats, alpacas and horses. She started pet sitting for neighbors when 12 and was active in dog 4-H for 8 years. She was the assistant 4-H Dog Club trainer and has experience working with a wide variety of dog breeds. Her and her doggie partner, Snickers, especially enjoyed agility and advanced obedience competition. Ashley also enjoys horseback riding, swimming, tennis, reading and crafts. She now attends Greenriver Community College and is a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant.
